Legal Question in Business Law in California
I recently took over an existing pizzeria in redondo beach. I was unaware of the fire protection policy change applied to gas appliances until the fire department informed me of the violation and that "foam" was outdated as of Jan 2008 and a new non-foam UL-300 needed to be installed or the city will shut the restaurant down. Is this payment my responsibility or is it my landlords duty to cover the outdated system? Thanks for your time.

.It depends on what your lease says about who is to maintain the premises. Absent anything in your lease it would be the landlord's responsibility to make this repair if he rented you the space for use as a restaurant.
good luck and hope this helps.
