Legal Question in Business Law in California

What regulations do I need to read if our business intends on keeping DIGITAL copies of customer driver licenses? State and Federal?

California laws I'd become familiar with in your position would include:

Civil Code section 1798.90.1 and maybe 1798.92 thru 1798.97;

Vehicle Code 14610(a)(7);

and Penal Code sections 529.7 and 530.5.

State laws probably are pre-eminent in this area, but there are probably also federal laws regarding a business having a duty to protect a customer's identification whenever interstate commerce is or might be affected....I don't know any specifics.
