It sounds like you are retaining rights in your copyrights so you probably need a licensing agreement.

Maybe your first step is to obtain copyright protection. To learn more, I'd suggest getting a paperback self-help law book with a title like "Author's Guide to Copyright Protection" or something similar.

I would agree with the attorney's above and you should register your work for copyright protection. However, it is good to have an basic understanding of protecting fictional characters before you begin filing for copyright protection.
