Legal Question in Business Law in California

Ive been out sick from work fro about a week now. I was sick the first 4-5 days then i stayed out an extra few to make sure not to bring the sickness in to the office. My boss won't let me come back to work now without a doctors note. I don't have insurance and it will be around 1200$ to see a doctor and I don't have the money to go. Is it legal for her to make me get one?

Are you under a written contract with this company? It would help to know a little bit more about whether this is a contract job or a simple at will employment question in California.
