Legal Question in Business Law in California

small claim

I filed a small claim against the president and ceo of a magazine who did not pay my wages of $1400 for work performed. In fact he did not pay anyone in the company and turned the company back to the former owner who says she is not responsible for the wages either. The attorney for this gentleman said they were under no obligation to settle as they were and LLC company. What are my legal rights?

Re: small claim

The officers and owners of a company are not personally liable for the company's debts except under very unusual circumstances. Your remedy is almost certainly against the company itself rather than any individual.
