I sold a item privately over craigslist. Buyer paid cash and now is unhappily with his purchase. Does he have any rights to a refund?

Well, it really depends on the terms of the deal and why the buyer is unhappy with the purchase. If you sold the item "as is" and didn't lie about the condition of the item, the buyer might not have much of a case. A Craigslist sale is essentially a "handshake" deal and there usually aren't any legal guidelines to how a court would rule due to the amount of money involved.

Disputes like this are usually resolved in small claims court. And in small claims court, the judge usually does what he or she thinks is fair. So ask yourself....is the buyer's reason for being unhappy fair? Was something wrong with item? Or was it just buyer's remorse? (i.e. "I really wanted Mario Super Galaxy instead of the Mario Kart game.")
