Legal Question in Business Law in California
I am a sole proprietor of a business in Los Angeles, CA that sells hair bows, bow ties and cosmetic bags. The business name contains my surname so I do not need a DBA but are there other permits or licenses I need to operate this business?

You'll undoubtedly need a City license to operate a business ......... contact the City of L.A.'s business-licensing department. You probably will also want (or need) a reseller's permit from the State of California's Board of Equalization. I suggest getting yourself a couple of those rather inexpensive paperback books on "How to Run Your Small Business in California" such as are published by Nolo Press and others ....... they are a gold mine of practical information like this.
