Legal Question in Business Law in California
I am a sole proprietor of a online business in Los Angeles, CA that sells handmade hair bows, bow ties and cosmetic bags. The business name contains my surname so I do not need a DBA but are there other permits or licenses I need to operate this business?

Most likely, but such requirements vary by city. You should look at the City of Los Angeles website for information on doing business there. Every major city has such information on the web.

As I indicated in my previous reply, you'll need a city business license, and almost certainly will also need a reseller's permit from the California Board of Equalization. I also suggested getting a couple books on running your own small business in California (e.g., Nolo Press).
