Legal Question in Business Law in California
I'm looking to start an online website selling sports clothing and hats (NBA jerseys, NFL caps, etc.). I have a seller's permit and a resale certificate. I'm getting my products from a supplier in Canada and their products are from the official NBA, NFL stores and not counterfeit. So, my questions are, will I need to obtain consent from NBA, NFL, etc. to sell their products? Do I need any other permits/licenses (eg. Business license) to run my online business legitimately? And let's just say in the future, if the products from my supplier turns out to be counterfeit, will I be liable or my supplier?
Thanks

I'm suspicious. Who says the articles are genuine? Lots of scamsters and con artists operate out of, or via, Canada. My advice is to send a sample to each league for verification, or at least demand that the supplier provide references that you can independently check, and if the references turn out to be in Belorussia or Halfgonistan, run, brother, run for the nearest exit.
As a Franchise Attorney I'm also suspicious. Definitely verify the Canadian supplier is an authorized NBA, NFL distributor, otherwise you will get sued. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
