starting my own business

i am in California i am starting my own on line gift shop selling many different products. just need to know legally what permits and licenses do i need! i looked up on a web site and it was telling me all kinds of federal employer stuff i needed i will not have employees just me at home on my computer

At a minimum, you should get a reseller license from the California Board of Equalization. Check out www.boe.ca.gov for the particular requirements...

There may be other licenses required depending on what you include in your gifts. For example, if you include alcoholic beverages, you will need an alcoholic beverage permit.
