Legal Question in Business Law in California

I'm starting a internet business in California and the Sec of State web site about required forms is a bit confusing. For a business license it offers 5 choices:

*Corporation

*Limited Liability

*Limited Partnership

*General Partnership

*Limited Liability Partnership

My business will be a adminstration secretary assistant service, helping complete forms, typing services, etc.

Im not sure which license I shouold apply for.

The SoS does not issue business licenses. Business licenses are issued by your city, or your county if you are not within the borders of a city. If you are just going to be working for yourself providing admin services there is probably no need for you to do anything with the SoS.

As a Franchise Attorney I second what the other attorney says. The Sec. of State is the agency where corporations, llc's are filed and begin their legal existence. Contact your city hall for information on obtaining a business license. Part of this process will be informing them of the type of entity you operate (sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, etc.) Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
