Legal Question in Business Law in California
I am starting a training business. I wanted to use the term "university" in the name of the business. Can I do that? Can I call the instructors a "professor" in advertising materials?

We always suggest to our clients that they avoid use of terms in their buisness that may create confusion as it may expose you to an unfair business practices claim from a disgruntled consumer. It sounds as though you are already concerned that this would be misleading. If you would like to discuss this and other aspects of starting a busienss, feel free to contact me.

Mr. Becker is right. The possibility of suit is too great.
As Mr. Whipple and Mr. Becker said, there are legal risks to starting a new business including what you name the company. To make the best determination about your risk I would need more facts on the case. If I can help please contact me.
