Legal Question in Business Law in California
statute of limitations on billing
my contractor just billed me for services done over a year ago - said the charges got ''buried''. This is the second time he's done this. He wants this resolved ''soon'' he says. He took 2 years to complete a job promised for 4 months
What are my rights here?

Re: statute of limitations on billing
Please post more information. What sort of contractor? What sort of project? Did you have a contract?
If so, does it address the issue?
Re: statute of limitations on billing
If the work was done less than two years ago, the billing is still "timely", in that the contractor could file a lawsuit, even if your contract with the contractor was oral. However, an attorney would have to examine your contract and know more about the subject of the contract to assess whether you have any other defenses to the contractor's claim.
