Legal Question in Business Law in California

I have a storage unit out of state. I want to close and move out however, they say I owe late fees the problem is I mail to a PO Box. once they pick up their mail to when they deposit it, it can take them up to 3 - 4 weeks each month before the check clears. This is consistently so how do I owe them a late fee? They clearly are not being held up from their funds..

If your contract states that payment must be received by a certain date, and you don't get them the payment by that date, they may be entitled to late fees. It is possible that their own conduct caused the late fees and if this has been going on for a while without them asking for the late fee, they may have waived them. But, they are out of state, and the amount is probably not significant. It may cost you a lot more to fight it than what is in dispute. Try and work something out with them.
