Legal Question in Business Law in California
We are a temporary staffing company in CA. We have 2 separate companies with separate FEINs. We have employees working for us under one company FEIN and are going to roll over these employees to the other company which is a different FEIN. Will we need to re-do applications, W-4s and I9s?

It sounds to me it would be as though the employees of Company X resigned and then were re-employed by Company Y. The fact that X and Y have a common owner is immaterial. So, I'd say the answer is yes, at least as to W-4 and I-9. To be sure, why not ask your local IRS office, where you'd be able to give a fuller description of the situation, including the nature of the connection between the two "separate" companies, etc.
