trash digging
Is it legal for a regular citizen or police officer to dig through someones trash and share the information with the public?

A person is considered NOT to have an expectation of privacy in trash. However, that doesn't mean that something discovered in the trash that is private may be shared with the world. I agree with Mr. Stone about using a shredder -- especially cross-cut ones that are harder to reassemble the pieces.
