Unpaid Utility Bills
After switching utility companies (phone) and eventually moving out of state I'm being called by a debt collection agency in reference to a past due balance on my prior phone company (house line), they are claiming that I owe the original 351 dollars plus an additional 150 in *interest*. Is it legal to charge interest on a past due utility bill or is it supposed to be just the companies ''late fee'' for late payment?

If your service agreement with the company allows it to charge interst (which it almost certainly does) then the company can do so.
