Legal Question in Business Law in California
what to do if a vendor sells more tickets than they can accomodate
A group of about 40 people each bought a ticket ($27) to an event. But, more tickets were sold than there was space for. The entity in charge of the event did not give ANY refund or ANY compensation. And, the tickets were bought from the same entity that put on the event. I want to know what steps should be taken next. I will first try to deal with it without using a lawyer, but I want to know what legal action a lawyer would take, and typically how these situations are dealt with. thank you.

I agree with Mr. Cohen. I want to add that you may have a good fraud claim if you can show that the vendor knowingly oversold the event.

Were you denied entry, or did you just not have a seat? That makes a difference. The value of the ticket is what you'd sue for in small claims court.
