Legal Question in Business Law in California
Verbal Aggreement
I lived w/ my brother in law, and my husband and I had problems, so I moved my stuff out. I told him I would still pay the agreed 200.00 per month until the lease was up (we are both on the lease). He initially was ok with that, then he sent me an email statin ghe wanted me to sign the roomate release form, and he left me a voice message cursing at me, telling me to f***ing sign the form, etc. I agreed (not verbally to him) and went and signed the form. He never signed it and changed his mind, then said I had to continue to pay the rent and utilities like I was living there. Do his emails to me requesting I sign the form, and then my action of signing the form constitute a verbal or non verbal agreement of any kind? Am I stuck in the elase still or is there a way out for me? Thanks for any help at all!! :)

Re: Verbal Aggreement
Your question is so confusing in the confusion lies is the roommate release form. I have practiced real estate law for over 30 years and have dealt with landlord-tenant law substantially. What the heck is a roommate release form, who does a benefit, what is it used for and why do you have to sign it. Who knows what the effect of his calling you back and forth and use signing it to him not signing it has to do with anything to you know what legal effect the release form in actuality has. Sorry it's the best I can do.I have been practicing law in the San Francisco Bay area for approximately 35 years and expert in the area in the category in which your question is placed. I feel I can help you in this matter and if you wish to consult with me please contact me at 925-945- 6000.
