Legal Question in Business Law in California
we have a new website.
we've listed urls of some restaurants and wineries we like.
we live in the napa valley and suggest people visit places we like in our area.
we aren't paid for the suggestions or listings--
but hope for future advertising on the site and have a page that asks for people to contact us who are interested in advertising.
is it ok to list places we like? we do not critique them. we just suggest them
thx, nvmg

There should be no problem since it is a positive review. If you are worried, contact them and get their approval, following it up with a letter stating they gave approval [best if you can get them to sign and return the letter].
Sound legal to me. Even negative reviews would be legal as long as you are truthful and objective. Think "First Amendment free speech."
As a Franchise Attorney I agree with the other attorney answers. You might also contact the restaurants and wineries listed to see if they're interested in advertising. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.

Best rule would be to ask permission from those places if you want to evolve your website into a money making/business venture. However, in any case, I believe that listing those places, even posting your reviews of them so long as they are true, would be legal.
