Legal Question in Business Law in California
My wife joined a gym with a 6 month commitment. One of the ways to cancel the contract was if you moved or are unable to come to gym. My wife's work has her out of town 25 days of the month. They put her account on hold, but continued to charge her for 3 additional months. They would not cancel the membership. We would like to recoup the money they charged her credit card.

Without being able to read the actual contract, it would be difficult to tell you if your wife has legitimate grounds to terminate the contract. It also depends on whether you wife knew about the work travel commitments when she signed the contract.
You have 3 options: (1) dispute the charges with the credit card company; (2) file a small claims lawsuit; or (3) have an attorney review the contract. You'll probably find that there really isn't a cost effective remedy for this.
