Legal Question in Business Law in California

Wireless carrier changes

A long, ongoing ispute with worldcom has not netted any results. The carrier is now AT&T. AT&T has sent a new wireless bill aquired from worldcom. Without notice or permission they changed carriers to which I have chosen not to accept.

I have cancelled service, but they want the payment for the one months service, to which I have not accepted. I have not even turned the cell phone on in 2 months, because of my dispute with worldcom.

Am I responsible for the bill?

Re: Wireless carrier changes

It's impossible to even guess, since your question gives no particulars about your dispute with WorldCom.

When a business is bought by another company, it assumes the service obligations and acquires the receivables of the acquired business. If this is what happened, AT&T has a right to continue the service until you discontinue it under the terms and with the notice required by the original WorldCom contract. AT&T also has the right to collect any money you owed WorldCom.
