Legal Question in Business Law in California
Hi there, I was wondering if you had any advice on where and what I should do about my case.
I've been with my current employer for over a year. I've had a tremendous record and even received a promotion. I'm generally a well liked person in my area. Recently, one of my area leads has expressed her dislike of me in the area. She has been targeting me and giving me corrective actions for something as simple as talking for 5 seconds. I've received verbals for waving high, and I've been moved from my work zone because I have been deemed untrustworthy. My coworkers notice this behavior and are shocked, they know me as a hard working individual. This particular lead had convinced the management team that I have been conspiring to make people call out of work. Saying I'm the Call out advocate. But yet, I'm not calling out. I've never had. Along with this, the management team has gone into meeting with my fellow employees and told them, using my name specifically, that I was a bad influence. I've received calls from my friends at work saying this was in fact true, and when I confronted one of my leads in a meeting, at the start of it he said my name was used. Towards the middle he said he was unsure, then after making a phone call that he did not put on speaker, he said no. They are spreading this accusation that I'm planing to betray the lead team every day and this is unacceptable. This has been the second time management has spread rumors about me whilst using my name. Early this year, they accused me of using and distributing drugs without any evidence. Their notion for this accusation was because I go to concerts. Yet- they held meetings, asking if people knew me outside of work, if they'd seen me do drugs. My reputation at the workplace has been jeopardized and now my chances of ever getting further promotions is out the window. I was planning on going to continue my employment for as long as I was going to school, which would have been 5-6 more years. But now I am receiving harassment and have no choice but to leave the company. It's hard to go into work and receive this form of disrespect form my management team. I am disappointed that a corporation such as mine would allow this behavior.

The only advice I can give you is change jobs. Nothing you have described is illegal. Bad business management practices are not illegal.
