Just recently a couple stores have been robbed again and we have been told by our managers that we could be robbed again. Since the last robbery the store owner has made no changes for our safty. If the store is robbed again could a lawsuit be filed against the owner for this?

Employers have a duty towards their employees to protect them from injury during their work hours. The Occupational Safety and Health Act requires employers to \"furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees\" (OSHA Section 5(a)(2)). Hence, if one of the store owner\'s employees is injured during the course of the robbery, the injured party may have a potential lawsuit. In the meantime, it would be advisable that you write a letter to the store owner requesting action be taken to ensure the safety of the employees. Keep a copy of the letter for your records.
