abstract of judgment

why does a plaintiff file an abstract of judgment even after a judgement for payment by the court, and after monthly payments by the defendant have begun?

In case the judgment debtor were to default, the judgment creditor would have a statutory lien on the debtor's real property, if it's recorded.
