Are attorneys responsible for the bad things process servers do

Process servers themselves are liable for the "bad things" process servers sometimes do, for example executing false returns of service. The attorney is not normally the employer of the process server and would not be liable unless the attorney had reason to know of improprieties on the part of the process server and continuted to use that process server or otherwise ratified the conduct.
