Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
I am in california and I a currently in default on my car payment. The repo guy came to my house today and I don't have the car here. He said that he was going to put in his computer that I refused to surrender the car if he doesn't hear from me tomorrow. What should I do? Is it a crime to conceal the car. I asked him to give me a week, but he wasn't budging on hearing from me tomorrow.

It is not a crime not to surrender the car. They cannot falsely claim it is a crime. If they tell you that something will happen such as you are committing a crime or that they will call the police it violates California Rosenthal Act and possibly Federal Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices Act.
It is not a crime to keep the car when they come to repossess it. The lender could be liable for using a agency that engages in that conduct.
