in california, if i wanted to take legal action against county sheriffs, how long of a time frame after incident occurred do i have to do so?

All claims against public/govt. entities must be sent by written notice within 6 months of the incident. You can apply for a submission of late claim, but there are limited grounds to grant a late claim. http://www.lawbarron.net http://www.lawbarron.com
