Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
I am a caregiver and recently had gallbladder surgery, the agency I go through for my clients requested a work release. I had my doctor fax it to them and then they sent it to my client without my permission. I may have lost my client and be out of work for 6 weeks. Was it legal for them to give my client my medical work release?

You have a patient who is your actual 'employer' for purposes of deciding who they hire or fire. Your agency is a really a middle man collecting your money, for a commission. Your 'employer' is entitled to demand and see a copy of your physician's release before allowing you to return to work. They knew you were off, and are entitled to know why before bringing you back if they want.

Plus, in general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or terminated any time for any reason, with or without cause, explanation or notice.
