Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
My Name is David A. Shelton. I have a small claims judgement agaisnt me for a little over $7,000 and just received a cal from a collection company who states that they are comming to repo my only car, cloths, furniture, ect. I'm on state disability with no assets or bank accounts. I told them I could make monthly payments of $100. and they told me "NO WAY" I'm on a fixed budget, just had another surgery and am out of work. They stated that they are comming for my only vehicle per the judgement along with my cloths, shoes and any thing else I have. I need advise on what and where to go for help. I'm very scared. They may have violated the Fair Debt Collection Act. How often do they make these threats? There are exemptions to protect your personal property. Contact me directly.
