diabetic insoline pump ripped out
my daughters insoline pump was ripped out of her by a substitute teacher who assumed it was an ipod. what legal recorse do i have?

That's reprehensible.
You definitely seem to have a claim against the school district for damages. The medical bills, pain and suffering, emotional distress, etc., should be included. An attorney can draft the claim, and assuming it's a public school, the claim must be made to the district on the district's forms within 180 days of the incident. This is required by the CA Tort Claim Act.
