Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Diary Passage is Evidence, can I black out other passages?

My eight year old daughter was sexually molested and wrote about it in her diary, The Police advised that the diary may be needed as evidence, I do not want my daughter any more violated or exposed, can I or my daughter erase or line out parts of the diary with out being charged with anything?

Thank You

No, No, No, you can't. Although its unlikely that you'd be charegd, that's called tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, etc.

There's also the chance that the attorney for the molester could argue you deleted evidence that could have exeronerated his client and cause him to get off.

Do not do this!
