Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Me and my best friend were roommates. I moved in on Sept 8, 2009, and she kicked me out November 30, 2009. I was not able to pay Novembers rent. I am unemployed and have been for the past year. I explained to her, I was on unemployment and the money isn't stable. She claim she understood. When she kicked me out, she claimed a payment of $500 before 12/31 in order to receive my belongings out of the house. I managed to come up with the $500 and she gave me 30% of my clothes back. The other 70% was stolen by her and her family. I would like to sue for everything I can, but I do not have much proof that I was living there besides my clothes being in the house. I have no reciepts from paid rent, I was never issued any keys to the house, and never had any mail going into the house. Can I still sue her?

Yes you can sue her but the question is whether you will win. Given that you have little proof of your claims and since you are the Plaintiff (the one who sues) you will probably not win much if anything.

Good luck and get things in writing next time and don't leave your stuff next time you leave as it is harder to get it back than if you had taken it with you.
