Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

handcuffs

My son was handcuffed by a bouncer at a club in San Diego while waiting in line to use the bathroom. (Apparently the bouncer thought my son was connected to the man in the bathroom stall doing cocaine.) My son repeatedly asked him to remove the handcuffs because they were hurting his wrists and also because he had done nothing wrong. When the bouncer finally attempted to remove them, he had a very hard time getting them off which caused him more pain. What recourse does my son have? It seems to me that this is false imprisonment. It also seems that a bouncer shouldn't be able to legally administer a set of handcuffs.

Thank you for your time.

Re: handcuffs

Absent permanent or serious injury, write to the owner and seek a letter of apology and perhaps a complimentary grapefruit juice.

I disagree with Mr. Cohen. This is a serious matter. Handcuffs can not and should not be used by anyone but the police. The case has general and may have punitive damage potential. Contact me directly.
