Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Hey my name is Janet and I have a question I sold a car 8 months a go it was a lien sale car cuz i both it from a tow truck company. I sold it to a guy and now 8 month later he is telling me that the police tock the car away from him and is going to be impounded for 30 day he told me the police stopped him cuz the car had different tag the plates originals expire in 2009 and the car had plates for 2010 and now he can't recover the car cuz he never register it and he I need to give him the money back or he is going to take me to court can you place advise me it all happen in Los Angeles California
