do i have to identify my self to police on my private property?

If the police have probable cause to believe that you committed a crime, they can come onto your property and ask you to identify yourself. They can not enter your house without permission, a warrant, or in hot pursuit. You have to supply more information as to the details of the incident for any of us to guess whether they were acting legally or not.
