Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
Is it illegal for me to contact a minor's doctor? My sister just got diagnosed with a mental disorder and she is claiming that my parents are administering the medication and going against what the doctor is prescribing. I do not know if this is true or not and have no way to verify the information, however even if she is lying she needs to be informed of the serious consequences of making such allegations. Because of my helplessness in this situation, I wrote her doctor a letter saying this is what I'm being told I don't know if it is true, therefore I am just informing you of the situation. The doctor immediately called my parents and now my parents are planning to sue me. Do they have any grounds for taking legal action?

It's doubtful. All you did was alert your sisters doctor to possible harm being inflicted on your sister. Innocent partys would have nothing to fear.
