Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Inmate Reclassification

Can an inmate be reclassified based upon a false write-up (report) from one facility to another facility? The inmate was reclassified as a K-10 (Killer), D for Dangerous and E for Escapee. What remedies can an inmate seek in filing a civil suit and also locating a civil attorney who has experience in filing claims for inmates???

Thanx

Re: Inmate Reclassification

That's a very technical question that very few attorneys will know the qnswer to, or, more importantly, what to do about it.

My best advice to you is to write a letter giving ALL information, including the person's address and inmate ID # to:

Prison Law Office

San Quentin, CA 94964

Phone: (415) 457-9144

or send your letter by fax to:(415) 457-9151

This non-profit organization has worked for prisoner's rights in California for many years and they know exactly who to contact and what actions to take since that's all they do.

They do not accept phone calls from non-lawyers. You must write to them and its best to have the person write, even if you write the letter for him/her, mail it to him for him to sign and then mail it to them, since attorneys are generally prohibited from contacting clients first, but must be contacted by the client/affected person and be asked for help.
