Jury duty
Is it true jurors can only be held 5 days?

In San Francisco, it's one day or one trial per year. Thus, if you don't get on a jury in the first day, you're done for the year. If you're on a jury, the judge will let you know how long the trial is expected to last (add at least 3 days for deliberations, unless the case isn't very complicated and can be decided in a few hours). The judge will hear requests for hardship excuse, but it has to be persuasive. Some jury trials could even last for several months!
