Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

I live in Oceanside CA. My neighbor does'nt like my bamboo, but me and the wife planted them there for privacy, the bamboo that we have is controled.

My neighbor told me this morning that it is against city ordanence to grow bamboo.

Is this true?

Don't get your legal advice from neighbors. Google is your friend. I typed in [oceanside city ordinance bamboo] and found a water conservation site that actually recommends you grow bamboo to save water. I also found a link to the municipal code and could not immediately find a reference to bamboo. You go search through the code.
