Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
How long can I have an attorney on retainer if I've paid and attorney up front and in full? Are the still legally on retainer to me and therefore obligated even if I paid them 5 years ago?

It depends on what you contracted for, and the terms of the understanding on how long he will work for you and how long you will continue to pay him.
