Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

mentioned in a deposition in an insurnace law suit

My name has been mentioned in an insurnace law suit by an ex-boyfriend, whom i lived with at the time of the accident. The insurance company wishes to call me and ask me questions about our life 6yrs ago. Not only do i not want to be involved, I am wondering how i can insure that i have nothing to offer or that i will not participate in any way, shape or form.

You have a right to refuse to provide any information unless you are given a subpena. If there are matters involved here that are of a sensitive nature that you prefer not to disclose on privacy grounds for some other legally-recognized reason, you should consult with a lawyer who may be able to devise a way to protect your interests. In general though, a party can compel your testimony even if you would rather not partcipate.
