Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
Motion to be relieved as counsel
What happens if I don't appear to court for this hearing? Does it mean it is unopposed and so, the motion is granted?

Re: Motion to be relieved as counsel
In civil cases motions to be relieved as counsel are almost always granted. If it is your attorney filing the motion, it generally means you haven't followed your attorney's advice, it is clear you have no case, or you have managed to alienate him or her, for example by not paying your bill. Time to retain another attorney if you can.
If it's the other party's attorney who filed the motion, congratulations! Your opponent is now in pro per, and unless another attorney is retained right away, your attorney will make short work of your opponent.
