Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
Obtaining title to a car purchased
My husband and I purchased a vehicle from his employer, we received a signed bill of sale and a signed release of liabilty. We had not received the title yet, but my husband had to resign his position. Now the previous employer does not want to sign the title. What can we do?

Re: Obtaining title to a car purchased
What you really have here is a breach of contract.
It is possible (but very unlikely) the DMV will transfer the title based on the documents you have and your story, but, again, VERY UNLIKELY.
It is far more probable that you will need to take a strong stance with the former employer and maybe even file an action in court to enforce the contract.
Our office can help you with this situation, should you need legal assistance in writing a formal demand letter or filing a lawsuit against the former employer.
Please feel free to contact our office to make an appointment. We are also available online at RulesofEmployment.com.
