Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
Personal Injury
I am a contract employee for a hospital. I agreed to extend my contract here granted I was trained for Cat Scan. After a 6 week intense training session, I was on my own for 2 weeks when a piece of equipment fell out of the ceiling where it was attached. The cables wrapped around my fingers torking my wrist to the floor along with the equipment (apprx weight 25-30 lbs maybe more). Long story short, I was out of work for 26 days. I did receive Workman's Comp from my employer. I am working again, although I still have pain. I have made contact with the attorney of the equipment company. They are willing to help me. I have determined the amount of wages lost, but how do I put a price on what I went through and the pain I still endure? My hands are my career.

Re: Personal Injury
This matter is exclusively under the worker's compensation system. You need to be sure that you get what you deserve. You should obtain representation immediately so as to be referred to a doctor your attorney works with. When you are deemed permanent and stationary it is critical to your final award to have your work restrictions opined by a doctor who is applicant oriented, and not one on your employer's insurance company payroll. The worker's compensation system is very adversial. The insurance companies will get away with anything they can. They will pay you the minimum on your claim unless you obtain representation to protect your interests. The worker's compensation insurance companies have attorneys, why don't you??
