Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

The police did a probation sweep on my home looking for my stepson. He was not there, only my wife and three minor children. They searched the home then began going through personal things in every room finding a weapon under the masterbedroom matress. I came home when they were about to leave asking what are they doing in my home. I was asked to identify myself, I did, then was asked "turn around because your an ex-folon in possesion of a firearm" . This was 19 years ago, and I am not on probation or paroll. I spent 30 days in jail, almost lost my job, and the case was thrown out of court because the search was illegal. Could this incident win a lawsuit?

You should consult with a civil attorney with a background in police practices. You also want to research the time frame for filing a claim against the law enforcement agency that conducted the illegal search.
