Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Here is a question concerning "searching" at a place where there is multiple addresses. What is okay and what is not?

My boyfriend and I live at an address of 507 ....st. My boyfriend is also on probation and this is his probation address. Downstairs from our address is 2 different shops that his father owns, one is at 509 ....st. and the other one is at 511 ....st. The two shops are NOT accessable from our apartment. There is only a locked door from the street outside to gain entrance to eawhich of the shops. My boyfriend and I do NOT have a key for either address.

My question is.... Can one police officer show up at our house while my boyfriend is NOT home (he was at work) and demand entrance to the 511 ....st. address because he wants to take a "look". I told him I couldnt help him because i didnt have access since i dont have a key for those 2 addresses. He then asked who does and I told him that only my boyfriends father did and he was gone on a mobile call for his business. He detained me out front of the business for quite sometime while he waited for my boyfriends father stating that he was going to break into the building if he was not going to show up. Upon my boyfriends fathers arrival, the officer advised my to stay right where I was and he approched the father asking for entrance to the building. The father asks if he has a search warrant and he said he didnt have to have one because his son was on probation.

Please give me any advice that you can on this question. If you need any further information please just ask.
