Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

What are my rights when entering the USA - US citizen

I am a US citizen who lives abroad. Over the last 2 years whenever I enter the USA by air I am taken out of line and sent to secondary screening.

The first 3 times it was just questions about where I live, how I make a living, what is the purpose of my trip to the USA, how long will I stay, who am I visiting.

This last trip in June it was different. They asked all the same questions but they then searched all my bags, looked thru the documents I was reading, asked me for my wallet (which I gave them), took my passport, my credit cards, debit cards, driver license..etc and made copies of some or all of them, they would not tell me which ones.

My questions...

What are my rights when entering the USA from abroad.?

Again I am a US citizen born and raise in the USA, I am a white male if that make a different.

I have submitted a redress request to Department of Homeland Security but they have not responded as to why I am on their list.

Can anyone answer this question?

Do I have any rights? Do I have to answer their questions? If I assert my rights will I get in more trouble and be detained?

All help is welcome.

You still have the right to vote for a new administration that abolishes the repressive "do not fly" list.
