Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
What are my rights?
After a period of hospitalization, I came home to find my room-mate wants to keep my things as back-rental payments. The landlord says he has no right to do so; since I was never on the lease. What are my legal rights courses of actions to regain my things? Can I go get them back? They are not worth over 1,000 dollars altogether.

You can get your things. Call the local police/sheriff and they will accompany you to get them.
