Searching a backpack
If I detect the scent of marijuana in one of my trucking company's vehicles, could I require the employee to show me the contents of a backpack being transported in our vehicle?

You can send the driver for a drug test for good cause since it's "safety first." I would err on the side of caution with the backpack, which could be private. Check the ashtray, though.
